The brief
The challenge
A portfolio of sheltered housing units occupied primarily by older residents with additional support needs. The housing association required zero access disputes, a sensitive approach to working in residents' homes, and completion within a 4-month programme window. The resident profile meant communication and disruption management were more critical than on a standard programme.
Our approach
How we did it.
We ran a pre-programme engagement session with the housing association's support team to understand specific resident needs. Each visit was scheduled with a 2-hour arrival window and confirmed the day before. Engineers were briefed on the resident context. A dedicated customer success liaison handled all resident queries throughout.
The results
What changed.
All 45 units completed within the 4-month window. Average energy bill reduction of £480 per unit per year. Post-installation SAP score improved by an average of 22 points. Zero access disputes. Zero complaints from residents throughout the programme.

SAP improvement
Working with vulnerable tenants requires patience and sensitivity. Smart Energie's team understood that instinctively. Not a single complaint from residents during the whole programme.
