How we price things

What your quote includes — and what you won't see added on install day.

Most UK trade quotes are deliberately incomplete — enough line items to look comprehensive, missing enough extras to leave room for "surprises" on install day. Ours is the opposite. Here's everything in our standard quote, and everything that might genuinely change on the day.

Always included

The line items you don't need to ask about.

Boiler (make, model, output kW confirmed)

The main unit itself. Brand and model in writing, not “a modern efficient boiler.”

Often extra elsewhere:

Manufacturer warranty registration

We submit the registration in your name directly to the manufacturer on install day.

Often extra elsewhere: Frequently not done — many customers discover years later their warranty was never registered

Magnetic system filter

Adey MagnaClean Professional 3 or Fernox TF1 Omega+ — catches metal particles that damage boilers. Adds 2–4 years of boiler life.

Often extra elsewhere: £150–£200

Smart thermostat

Your choice of Hive, Nest, Honeywell Evohome, or Tado — includes install and setup.

Often extra elsewhere: £180–£250

First annual service

Booked for Year 1 anniversary. Maintains your manufacturer warranty.

Often extra elsewhere: £90–£115

Gas Safe certificate

Issued by our engineer, registered with Gas Safe Register automatically. You should always get this — verify every installer.

Often extra elsewhere: Should always be £0, but isn’t always provided

Old boiler removal and disposal

Environment Agency licensed waste carrier. Includes all packaging and old parts. No skip on your drive.

Often extra elsewhere: £60–£120

Standard flue up to 2 metres

Covers ~90% of installs. Longer or more complex flues are discussed before install day.

Often extra elsewhere: Wall flue extensions £200–£500

Power-flush if required by survey

Cleans the system of sludge and debris before connecting the new boiler. We include it standard because a new boiler on a dirty system voids warranties.

Often extra elsewhere: £250–£450

10-year parts and labour warranty (where manufacturer offers)

Worcester Bosch 4000/8000, Vaillant ecoTEC, Viessmann — 10 years. Some budget brands are shorter.

Often extra elsewhere: Manufacturer’s 5–7 year default elsewhere

Post-install commissioning report

Written document, emailed within 48 hours of install. Useful for insurance, future sale.

Often extra elsewhere: Rare

2-week handover check-in call

Phone call from your engineer, not a call centre.

Often extra elsewhere: Rare

Air source heat pumps

Full inclusions list for heat pumps — publishing shortly. Our standard heat-pump quote covers the outdoor unit, hot water cylinder, controls, pipework, commissioning, MCS certification, BUS application handled by us, and a 5–7 year manufacturer warranty on the unit.

Solar PV, battery & EV chargers

Full inclusions list for solar — publishing shortly. Our standard solar quote covers panels, inverter, battery (where specified), mounting, DC+AC cabling, G98/G99 commissioning, MCS certification, and a separate consumer-unit connection where needed.

Insulation (cavity, loft, IWI, EWI)

Full inclusions list for insulation — publishing shortly. Every insulation quote starts with a moisture-risk assessment and a borescope where relevant. The survey is itself the gate — if it fails, we don’t proceed.

Underfloor heating

Full inclusions list for underfloor heating — publishing shortly. Our standard wet-UFH quote covers the manifold, controls, screed, commissioning, and integration with your existing or new heat source.

Potential extras

Things we charge for only if they apply.

These are not hidden. They're written into your quote as "potential extras," with clear cost figures. If any of them apply, we tell you before any work starts. You can walk away with no cost.

Radiator upgrades

Only if survey finds 2+ existing rads undersized for your heat demand

Typical cost: £80–£180 per radiator

Pipework rerouting beyond 2m

Only for boiler relocations or significant plumbing changes

Typical cost: £200–£600 depending on scope

Asbestos remediation

Only if asbestos is present (relevant for pre-1999 builds)

Typical cost: £350–£1,200

Complex roof flue scaffolding

Only for certain roof configurations (tall, complex geometry)

Typical cost: £200–£400

Structural alterations

Only if chimney work or cavity alterations needed

Typical cost: Quoted per case

Gas supply upgrade

Only if existing supply is undersized (rare for replacement)

Typical cost: £400–£800

All potential extras are surfaced before install day. The Instant Quote tool's five conditions are the hard commitment: if a survey finds one of these, we tell you before any work proceeds.

Air source heat pumps

Full not-included list for heat pumps — publishing shortly. Three named conditions can change a heat-pump quote: BUS grant ineligibility finding, structural issues with outdoor unit siting, electrical supply incapacity. The full list is on every heat-pump quote.

Solar PV, battery & EV chargers

Full not-included list for solar — publishing shortly. Two named conditions can change a solar quote: roof structural concerns found during fixing, DNO application delays for G99 grid connection. The full list is on every solar quote.

Insulation

Full not-included list for insulation — publishing shortly. The survey's moisture assessment is itself the gate; if it fails, we don't proceed. No surprise costs.

Underfloor heating

Full not-included list for underfloor heating — publishing shortly. One main condition can change a UFH quote: existing sub-floor or screed incompatibility requiring remedial work.

Your fixed price, protected

The five things that can change it.

Our fixed price holds unless one of five named conditions applies. They're listed in full on our Honest Total Price page — read them before you book. If any apply, we tell you before work starts and you decide whether to proceed.

Why this page exists

Because most installers won't do this.

If you've read ten installer websites to get here, you've probably seen zero that list exactly what's in and not in a quote to this level of detail. That's not an accident.

Incomplete quotes — "£2,800 for a new boiler!" — leave deliberate space for extras on install day. The extras may be legitimate or may not. By the time they show up, you've committed, the old boiler is out, and the pressure to agree is high.

We publish the full list because pre-empting that conversation makes the whole relationship saner. You know what might change. We know what might change. Nothing is discovered in a stressed hallway conversation at 3pm on install day.
